Agrotech Plus Ltd ("Agrotech Plus", "we", "us") operates a platform that connects Kenyan farmers to buyers, delivers weather and crop advisories, and provides solar cold storage, irrigation, and drying technology. This policy explains how we handle personal data for anyone who visits our website, signs up as a farmer or buyer, or uses our SMS advisory services.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the platform, we collect:

• Account details — name, phone number, email, location, and password when you register as a farmer, buyer, or both.
• Farm and produce data — crop types, farm location and size, planting dates, and produce listed for sale, used to match you with buyers and tailor advisories.
• Business details — company name, business type, and products of interest for buyer accounts undergoing approval.
• Communications — messages sent through our contact form, SMS advisories you receive, and support requests.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically for security and site performance.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to operate your account, connect farmers with buyers, send weather and crop advisories by SMS or in-app notification, process buyer approval reviews, respond to enquiries, and secure the platform against fraud and abuse.

3. Weather and SMS advisories

If you opt in to advisory messages, we use your farm's location to source weather data and send planting, irrigation, and harvest guidance by SMS through our messaging provider, Africa's Talking. You can opt out of SMS advisories at any time from your account settings.

4. Sharing between farmers and buyers

To operate the marketplace, limited information — such as produce type, quantity, farm location, and a contact method — is shared between a farmer and a buyer once they connect through the platform. We do not sell this information to third parties, and buyer accounts are reviewed before they can view farmer listings.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

When you first visit, we ask which of the following categories of cookies you're comfortable with. You can change your answer at any time from Cookie Settings in the footer.

• Necessary — keeps you signed in, protects against cross-site request forgery, and powers Cloudflare Turnstile's bot protection on our forms. These can't be switched off, since the site can't function securely without them.
• Analytics — helps us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Off by default.
• Advertising — lets us show ads through Google AdSense. Off by default, and skipped entirely on mobile.

Your choice is remembered in a cookie of its own for 180 days. Rejecting a category simply means the cookies and scripts in that category are never loaded — nothing is set, and nothing is sent to that provider, until you opt in.

6. Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third parties to run the platform: Africa's Talking for SMS delivery, Open-Meteo for weather data, Cloudflare for bot protection, Google AdSense for advertising (only once you've allowed it), and, if you choose to sign in that way, Google for social login. Each handles data under its own privacy terms.

7. Data retention

We keep account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. You can request deletion of your account data at any time; see Section 9.

8. Data security

Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, sensitive account actions are protected by multi-factor authentication, and repeated failed sign-in attempts are automatically throttled. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data.

9. Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

10. Children's privacy

Agrotech Plus is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services evolve. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
